Nothing but November love

If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed I haven’t been posting much. Combination of being unacceptably busy and not haven’t the time to get creative and inspired.

I have however, recently pulled together a tutorial for StyleList.ca on Taylor Swift’s classic make up look. Sigh. I wish I had her blonde hair for this. I digress. This idea came to me after replaying her new 1989 album a million and one times. I haven’t listened to an album this much since Mumford’s last record.

Outside the world of beauty you’ll notice I’m also swooning over everything Christmas light related (in the city and my place!), the last few leaves of Autumn (as I write this the snow sets on the ground outside), Essie’s Christmas 2014 collection (more to come on that) and last but not least. Balzac’s Parisian Mist Tea Latte – If I could have on everyday I would.

Six products two looks: Bold eyes vs red lip

For someone who’s a bit of a beauty hoarder I don’t really mix up my beauty looks as much as I should. Awful, I know! I have been trying a new look lately but there will be more on that later. For now, check out the products I’m using for these two beauty looks when I’m strapped for time.

{The six stars}

These are the products you’ll need for both looks. Gotta love multi-taskers, non? The base for both looks involves Givenchy Foundation for a matte but glowing base and Dior’s Iconic Overcurl Mascara for volume and curl.

1. Givenchy – Teint Couture Foundation

2. Shu Uemura – Tint in Gelato in Cassis Delight

3. Benefit – they’re Real! Push-Up Liner

4. Diorshow – Iconic OverCurl Mascara

5. Dior – Addict Extreme Lipstick in Mirage

6. Lancome – Blush Subtil Palette

The first look is as easy as pie. Base as above with Shu Uemura’s Tint in Gelato in Cassis Delight on the lips and a cheeks. It’s my favourite lip and cheek product by far. Keep this badboy in your purse for beauty emergencies.

This look is all about the eyes. Using Benefit’s they’re Real! Push Up Liner I apply it to the lower and upper lash line, as well as the waterline.

For the cheeks I use Lancome’s Blush Subtil palette in Nectar Lace — bronzer, blush and a little highlighter for good measure.

For the lip I have pretty much one go-to nude lippie for a balm-like finish. Dior’s Addict Extreme Lipstick in Mirage is perfect for olive-toned ladies like myself. It has just enough caramel and pink in it to look natural but healthy.

Which is your fave? Ya’ll know I’m a red-lip aficionado but recently I’m all about the nude-lip, lined up combo!

Maybelline brings us the best lipsticks. Ever.

Matte lipsticks have long since been my jam. I’m talking, Stila’s All Day Liquid Lipstick, Nars’ Velvet Matte Pencils and Shu Uemura’s My Dear Matte Lipsticks – all offering a prestige pout that’s stamped with a colourful approval.

Revlon’s Colorburst Matte Balms brought me a ton of joy with their silky finish and bold, beautiful colours but now their’s a new, affordable collection in town and I’m all swoons.

Enter Maybelline’s new Creamy Matte collection and boy are they just that. Creamy lippies in the most insatiable range of colours. I often say this when I’m really loving a product — these are so freakin’ good I want to eat em’.

Canada’s been graced with eight shades of pinks, nudes and reds (gutted the wine shade isn’t available here). Check out my absolute faves below.

Do you even know how hard it is for an olive skinned girl to find a nude lipstick that doesn’t wash her out? This shade is effortless on any complexion. So much love <3

Of course red is always my lipstick wardrobe of choice and this shade is pretty perfect.

Giving thanks to family, food, fashion and fall

I know we just paid homage to my favourite shade of all time but this past Thanksgiving weekend played a big inspiration on my beauty, style and let’s be honest — food choices.

I spent the wonderful weekend eating a LOT of amazing food (most of which involved colours of orange, cream and brown — I love cheese and carbs).

Autumn talk: favourite colours

{Fall favourites}

Suffice to say my favourite shade when it comes to autumn (fall) is burgundy. What, you didn’t know?! From berry hues of handbags to deepened wine lips I’m all about mixing elements of this gorgeous autumn appropriate shade in to my wardrobe.

It lends itself marvellously to shades of black, mustard, cream and brown. Chocolate eyes and wine lips…one of my favourite looks for autumn.

What’s your go-to colour palette for this season?
