A pink take on the Bronzed Goddess

{Bronzed cheeks with a pink lip}

6-week long summer vacations on the beaches of Morocco were spent with my Guerlain lipgloss stapled to my beach bag. As a teen, I was in love with the browns and golds that came with summer but as I get older I’m finding more and more that the look doesn’t brighten my face as much as I would like it to. For my recent trip to Hawaii, I found that various shades of pink were my go to shades. This time it was only a one-week vacation – bittersweet in comparison but blissful nonetheless. Regardless of the short time spent there I managed to take 8 different shades of pink, just in case…

{The line up: pink on bronze}

The products featured above are my staple, summer-look for when I want to achieve that “Jennifer Lopez” glow. It sounds clichéd and I’m not normally influenced by celebrity make-up, but I’ve always associated the “bronzed goddess” look with the Puerto-Rican beauty. The Marcelle Xtension Plus mascara is sensational. There are only a handful of mascaras out there that elevate your lashes to the extreme and this is definitely one of them. I lined my eyes with the Bourjois Kohl and Contour eyeliner in Chocolate Brown. It’s a super versatile “soft” liner to complement this look.

{Guerlain Terracotta Sheer Bronzing Powder in Brunettes 03}

Guerlain’s Terracotta Sheer Bronzing Powder is my absolute favourite bronzer of all time. This has stayed with me through the years for the simple reason that it has a delicate finish. I’ve never been a fan of intense streaky bronzers that provide an intense finish and this particular product goes on perfectly smooth and sheer. Used in the contours of my face, it adds a sun-kissed glow.

The limited edition MAC highlighter in “Whisper of Gilt” has blown my mind. The finish is almost liquidy and provides the most flawless sweep of shimmer across the cheekbones and brow. I also added a small amount to the inner corner of my eye to make them appear bigger. If you can get your hands on one of these you won’t be able to leave the house without it. It’s one of those instant “pick-me-ups”.

The limited edition MAC blush, Chic Couple is a perfect blend of browns and peachy golds to brighten the face – I used this on the cheek bones to add more colour against the bronzer in my contour. Try the mineralize blush, Love Joy for a similar finish.

{Blossom Culture “Too Supreme” Lipstick, by MAC}

The finishing touch, a pink, sheer lipstick to brighten the look up. Steering away from a brown-gold, Blossom Culture gives a softer finish to a summer look. These lipsticks offer one of my favourite formulas. Although they don’t last long on the lips, the texture is balmy and almost smoothes out the fine lines making your lips appear fuller with colour.
