It’s here! Pulled together a little round up of the products I repeatedly reached for in 2017. I haven’t included skincare since a recent post I did covered that all off. Behold my hair, make up fragrance and nail favourites!
COMPLEXION
Best Foundation
I tend to switch up my foundation quite often depending on the finish I’m looking for but I absolutely LOVE the formula of YSL’s All Hours Foundation. It blends like a matte liquid but the finish is luminous without an oily look. It does what it says on the bottle – lasts all day without slipping around the skin. Especially if you set with a light and loose powder.
Best Concealer
I know, I know. The hype over Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer is intense but I have to say, I get it. A full coverage, easy to blend, non-moving concealer. It doesn’t crease too much under the eyes but if I have extra dry skin then I’ll use my second favourite concealer…Tarte’s Aquacealer, which is a lighter formula.
Best Bronzer
This bronzer has taken the top spot for my Guerlain Four Seasons compact! The Yves Saint Laurent Sahariennes Bronzing Stones have a silky smooth formula so it’s easy to blend…which is exactly what you need from your bronzer.
Best Highlighter
I mean it goes without saying that the Fenty launch blew beauty out the water last year. The formula of the powder is silky smooth and blends so well on the skin.
I’ve been using the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Lightening Dust and Fire Crystal – the best part is that you have options of the intensity of your highlight. The cool, champagne pink shade works well in the winter months. Not quite sure how that will translate when I have tan…
EYE PRODUCTS
Best Eyeliner
Eyeliner is a hard one to get right, amirite? I have hard felt liners so this Lancome Grandiose one was a breeze to work with. The soft and bendy tip, glides the ink across the skin and the packaging itself bends to enable an easy flick. Tried and tested when rushing to get ready after a gym session…it really does work in a rush.
BEST LIP AND CHEEK
Best blush
Nars Dual Intensity Blush in Panic is my favourite cheek palette for a frost-bitten flush. I tend to blend the two shades together every time because the shade is super special. The silky powder makes for easy application.
Best Nude
The formula of Huda Liquid Lipsticks are somewhat drying if I’m honest BUT this pink-nude colour is my favourite, easy-to-wear shade. Bombshell goes with every look, whether it’s an intense smoky eye or a natural, dewy look, this shade is my go to.
Best Red
After being gifted this by a friend I’ve been in absolute awe and desperate to pick up more shades. Rouge Dior Liquid Lipstick is one of the smoothest applications of liquid lip I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying and the red shade is the perfect, crimson hue.
Best Lip Balm
I know it’s absolutely obscene but I adore the By Terry Baume De Rose Lip Balm. It’s SO soft and smoothing and the scent is a delicate floral note. It’s the only lip balm that keeps my lips hydrated and smooth for hours and I love the glossy finish.
Best Shadow Palette
My favourite eyeshadow palette won the top spot for a number of reasons. The shades in Smashbox’s Cover shot Eye Palette are GORGE and easy to wear day to night. The size of it is slim and compact so it’s easy to travel with and the powders are super easy to blend. The best part? It’s inly £24 which is a lot pricier than most palettes!
HAIR, FRAGRANCE, NAILS
Best for Hair
The love for every Ouai product I’ve ever tried is so real. As a brand, it’s the one that comes on 2017 for me – the products are just absolute excellence. I use the Repair Shampoo and Conditioner, Smooth Spray, Soft Hairspray, Rose Hair and Body Oil, Dry Shampoo and Dry Shampoo Foam. The only product that’s disappointed me from the collection is the Finishing Creme.
Top spot is taken by Smooth Spray – you’ll see an instant transformation in your blowdry with this baby!
Best Fragrance
I’m forever rotating between fragrances but I’ve really enjoyed Narciso Rodriguez, Poudree fragrance. A warm blend of jasmine, sensual woods and a powdery musk – a real feminine scent.
Best Hair Mist
I was gifted this beaut Christmas 2016 and have been obsessed with spritzing it in my locks. Hair perfume has been a naughty pleasure of mine for a few years now but this Byredo Mojave Ghost scent is absolutely delicious. Through 2016 I wore the perfume and hair mist.
Check out the notes below…
- Top notes: ambrette, Jamaican nesberry
- Mid notes: violet, sandalwood, magnolia
- Base notes: Chantilly musk, crisp amber, cedar wood
Best Nail Polish
I only own one Smith and Cult polish but this shade in particular felt extra special. I found Regret the Moon through The Anna Edit – and I can totally see why she loved it so much. A delicate, off white, pinky grey that looks clean and polished. It’ll be the first nail shade I’ve actually finished!
