Cover up collections

Wherever possible, I like to try different bases for my makeup, especially in different seasons. Traditionally we tend to lean to toward lighter formulas in the summer that offer a more dewy look but I feel like it makes more sense to go for the opposite. In the winter, I want my dehydrated skin to glow with moisture and in the summer I want to tone down the shine that I get from the humid and hot weather.

This collection of foundations do a great job of just doing the job and doing itΒ well. These are the best foundations that are in my collection and of them all I think the below provide the best formula for their given finish.

MAC’s is super shimmery and looks awesome for evenings in the summer. It highlights your tan for a stunning JLO glow. NARS’ Tinted Moisturizer is the best for sun protection and beach days where you want little makeup but still want to look good in photos.

Touche Eclat and Benefit both provide a gorgeous illuminated look which I love in the winter (though Benefit’s it’s a lot lighter than YSL – it just depends the type of consistency you like creamy vs liquid). Laura Mercier’s is thick with great coverage but I find that I can get quite greasy quite so it’s probably best for dry skin.

hi! let me start by saying I absolutely love your blog! it is so informative and helpful…i usually go for my makeup choices after consulting your blog =D
however, i’m not a very big fan of foundations….they tend to cake on my skin no matter what the consistency is! and usually after 3 to 4 hours, my make up tends to crack!! i don’t even know if that happens to other people. =(
so i was thinking if going for BB creams is a better alternative. it would be a tremendous help if you could review some of the BB creams like maybelline or Skin79 hot pink BB cream?
    thank you!! =)

Hi Maisha! Thanks for the lovely comments! I haven’t actually gelled very well with BB creams yet as I have a heavy focus on my skincare so I tend to keep my foundations separate. Saying that, The NARS Pure Radiant Tinted moisturizer that I mentioned works as a BB cream it just isn’t stated as one – it’s SUPER light and doesn’t cake at all πŸ™‚ It helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots and discolouration and give you a brighter complexion in weeks. It honestly did all of that and MORE once I started using it. That and my change of skin care completely transformed my skin πŸ™‚
