Moisturizers to get you through the temperature change

dry skin moisturizers

It’s pretty glutinous to say this but lately I haven’t been able to pick one moisturizer to stick with and this list was settled two weeks ago before two more tubs were added to the rotation. Hey! It hasn’t done me any damage yet so I’m rollin’ with the punches.

At the end of the day my dry skin (Oh, thanks, Canada) has been soaking up these hydrating helpers with nothing but a cactus-like thirst. Check out this little list of moisturizers I think are well worth checking out if you’re on the hunt for a new face cream.

kiehls ultra facial cream intense hydration

Kiehl’s are one of those brands that totally embody the cleanliness and luxury that skincare should be. I like to call them in between Philosophy and Vichy when it comes to product quality, packaging and pricing.

Housed in a glass jar this water-like hydrator has a formula that’ll melt like oil in to your skin but won’t leave it feeling greasy at all. Believe me when I say it’s the lightest ‘rich’ cream I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying.

  • Paraben & fragrance free
  • lightweight moisture – Hyaluronic acid holds 1000 times it’s weight in water!
  • $32

hope in a jar dry skin

{Philosophy – Hope in a Har – Dry Skin}

A few months ago I tried the iconic, Oprah favourite, Hope in a Jar by Philosophy ($52) moisturizer and was pleasantly surprised with the product felt like slightly more solid water to the touch.

This simplicity of this packaging and sheer genius in the choice of font was enough to sell my on the product but the level of hydration I was looking for was a little more desperate. So I found Hope for dry skin!

  • helps relieve dryness and improves the skin’s natural moisture balance
  • lightest cream formula
  • rich in anti-oxidants (anti-aging!)

dior hydra life pro youth silk creme

If you don’t like fragrance, I’m warning you now that this may not be for you. If, like me you think it would be appropriate to shower in a bottle of by Kilian’s Bamboo Harmony, then read on.

Dior’s HydraLife ProYouth, Silk Creme ($65) is of course sitting comfortably in a heavy, glass jar and features the scent of the Dior gardens.

Containing plant extracts; jisten, centella and black rose these additions will allow your skin cells to sit in bio-exaltation. What’s that you ask? It’s a fancy way of saying they’ll be in their optimal renewal stage which means a brighter canvas!

  • Silky texture for comfort and decadent scent
  • luxurious packaging
  • skin plumping and smoothing

olay freh effects dew over hydrating gel

Olay’s entire Fresh Effects line has boosted the brand and the obvious marketing attempt to draw in a younger customer is bound to work. Bright packaging with cute and quirky titles and a social media campaign to match. I’m a sucker for it but that aside I’m loving the products. Best thing about this moisturizer ($14.99)

  • Great for those with combination skin
  • Lightweight gel formula that hydrates without being greasy
  • Refreshing formula that absorbs in to the skin right away

 ex-glow-sion bliss triple oxygen

{Bliss ex-GLOW-sion vitabead infused moisture cream}

This product is for those that are already feeling the brunt of this cold weather change (what’s up with that?). If you suffer from dry skin already then you’ll want to pack on layers of this thick, luscious cream ($64).

  • Infused with beads that burst with a brightening formula
  • Thick formula for dry skin
  • Contains vitamin E and C for long-term skin brightening and repair

    I’ve heard so many great things about that Kiehl’s moisturizer! That Dior one sounds great too.
