Skincare spotlight: Sunday Riley

sunday riley skincare review

‘Is Sunday Riley worth the hype’, you ask? I’ve asked myself the same question for a few months now but after hearing nothing but great things from multiple sources I was excited to be giving it a go myself. After trying three products from the range I’ve concluded that Sunday Riley skincare is an alien-like masterpiece of a portfolio from another world. With unusual formulas that range in texture, colour and scents, your skincare routine will truly become somewhat of an extra-terrestrial experience.

In particular, Luna Sleeping Night Oil had peaked my interest, especially since the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil is in my top five ultimate products of all time. This bright blue liquid is bursting with all the right ingredients to repair and strengthen your skin overnight. Retinol works to help smooth out fine lines, correct sun damage and stimulate collagen production in your tired and dull skin cells. Having tried this for a month I’ve undoubtedly noticed a difference in the texture and radiance of my skin. My foundation is sitting on my skin with a smooth finish and not settling in the dry, fine lines that it used to.

The Tidal Brightening Enzyme Cream is a whole new class of science in skincare. This concoction features two weights of the holy grail, Hyaluronic Acid that works to drench your skin cells with hydration. Exactly what they need to repair themselves bringing you brighter, glowing skin. Alongside the hydration factor, papaya enzymes work to resurface dead skin cells whilst alpha-arbutin helps with hyper-pigmentation issues. So if you’ve had a couple of scars from spots this (with the addition of SPF in your routine) will have those faded in no time. Does it work? YES. Within two weeks it’s cleared up scars that I had from a naughty pimple-popping evening. This moisturiser is by no means an ordinary moisturiser.

The Martian Mattifying Toner is probably my least favourite of the three. Whilst I loved the unusual cream-gel texture, the smell is just too overpowering for me. From a functional perspective the results are just what it promises. Typically a mattifying toner will dry your skin but this one infuses the skin with moisture whilst reducing shine drastically. Exactly what you need for acne-prone skin.
