best eye creams for dark circles wrinkles dry eyes

{The Eye Cream rotation}

I know it seems a little absurd to have a rotation of eye creams but a skincare specialist once told me there is no one eye cream that can do it all and it totally made sense to me. For the longest time I was trying eye creams that claimed to do so much but felt like they were doing nothing at all!

To be able to target specific problems and target them well, you have to consider focusing on one thing at a time.

That being said, it’s no surprise I use a variation of now five different eye creams to target different things. These my friends, are my favourites.

olay fresh effects bright on schedule eye awakening cream

{De-puffing perfection}

I admit that I often have my doubts with drugstore brands but almost every product from the new Fresh Effects collection by Olay has been more than impressive. This eye cream and the cleansing wipes being the standout pieces. Bright On Schedule, Eye Awakening Cream is a rollerball that claims to brighten and de-puff your eyes instantly. No exaggeration – it does just that. This is the eye cream I go to if I’m desperate to get my eyes from potato sacks to bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

{The rollerball effect}

The cooling rollerball has a lot to do with the impressive bag-busting results.

skinceuticals aox eye gel

{Anti-aging – the miracle worker}

I know it’s easy to forget about the future of your beautifully aging skin but if you want to keep it looking that way then preventative measures hold a place in your beauty regime. Skinceuticals are one of the best in this field and I’m a huge fan of this AOX antioxidant Eye Gel ($89). With that, it repairs sun damage to the eye and helps you look a lot less tired than you feel.

{lancome genifique eye cream serum

{Dark circles – Let there be bright}

If you’re a fan of the Clarisonic Opal I highly recommend using this light-bulb of a serum in conjunction with it. Lancome’s Genifique Eye Light-Pearl ($88) is light enough to use with the device (that alone helps to soften the look of puffiness in an instant) and product alone is fantastic at easing dark circles after just a few weeks of use. If you’re looking for hydration and the banishment of fine lines look for something a little richer. I find this to be drying at times but when I layer it with a richer cream it’s a dream.

kiehls midnight recovery eye cream

{Sleeping beauty}

This sleeping beauty boasts a mix of botanicals and essential oils that offer an under eye area that’s soft and supple. Though it claims to, the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Cream ($40) doesn’t always banish puffy peepers but when my skin has been obviously thirsty, this little wonder helps me wake with a fresher look.

Shiseido ibuki eye correcting cream{The holy grail}

When pulling together these edits there’s often a product that stand out the most and I feel like it’s my duty to give you that “If you had to pick ONE” recommendation. Obviously the above are fantastic in their areas of expertise but the Shiseido Ibuki Eye Cream is my number one, daytime eye cream. It smoothes out fine lines and contains a pearlescent ingredient that illuminates the skin instantly. It takes me from looking zombie like to “I woke up like this”.

ibuki

ibuki

{Shiseido Ibuki collection}

All you need is love…and a skincare regime that’ll perfects your appearance without giving you all the bells and whistles to add to the confusion.

I was recently approached by the brand to try out this crisp collection and without hesitation agreed. Shiseido was one of the first luxury brands I used when it come to skincare — mummy liked to spoil me a little in the beauty halls when she’d go to stock up on her Estee Lauder bits.

The moto for Shiseido’s new regime is “Ready for anything skin.” Sounds perfect to me. The line is aimed at skin that endures the stressors of city life. Repairing the skin after damage from dryness, pollution, stress and UV the results after one month have really been visible<3

cleanser

{Ibuki Purifying Cleanser – $35}

Let’s start with the cleanser. Recently added to my top five list of make-up removing magic makers. Alongside Philosophy’s Purity, Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oils and Biotherm’s face washes, this Purifying Cleanser is one of the best.

The foaming capabilities are impressive as it lathers in to silk-like soap that’ll leave you feeling and looking fresher and cleaner. The best part is the micro-granules that works to get nice and deep with the dirty.

softening

{Ibuki Skin Softening Concentrate – $30}

As you may all already know, Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Tonic is one of my all time favourite toners simply because it doesn’t feel harsh in the slightest. I feel the same way with the Softening Concentrate. It’s silky, it’s lightweight and it literally allows your skin to drink up the serum and moisturizer after use.

The only downfall I have with this particular product is that there’s not enough in the bottle for the price. I find myself wanting to use at least two pumps to feel the softening properties kick in

moisurizer

{Ibuki Refining Moisturizer Enriched – $52}

Available within the line are more fluid versions of moisturizers that are probably better suited for skin that isn’t too dry but for me — it’s all about the Refining Moisturizer Enriched. The regular Refining Moisturizer is still fantastic but for my skin to feel particularly smooth the Enriched version offers the perfect texture.

eyecream

{Ibuki Eye Correcting Cream – $45}

This Eye Correcting Cream has managed to push out all the other eye creams I’ve had in my rotation. It’s that good! The texture is so soothing, the light reflecting aspect is handy for those tougher mornings but, i’m still able to use it at night time. My only regret is that I don’t have a whole stash of this! These are the results that Shiseido claim:

In a 4-week consumer self-assessment study:
– 84% of participants felt puffiness improved
– 90% of participants felt fine lines improved
– 93% of participants felt dark circles improved

I can totally see why they’re so strong. Everything about this eye cream rocks.

Roundup

The thing about this line is that it looks simple but that’s what makes it stand out! The industry is so saturated with too much messaging and half of the stuff out there isn’t as good as it claims to be. Ibuki really feels and looks like it’s maintaining my skin’s safety in this groggy city. It’s a line that I feel offers the most soothing and smoothing results without all the harshness of alcohols and heavy scents. There’s a reason I’ve featured it in so many of my freelance pieces!

Korres line

{The collection}

I have a very close relationship with my skincare and it’s no secret that my daily go line is Biotherm. Saying that, the only line that I’ve been able to substitute in when I’m itching for a change, is Korres’ Wild Rose or Pomegranate line. A couple of the products are truly fantastic and provide incredible and immediate results. View Post
