{Home office}

A few products have been sitting on my desk for a little too long lately so I thought I’d make a point of sharing my desk side essentials.

Whilst hard at work I feel like there’s always a place for a nice candle. During the day I’m burning Hobnail Waterlilly candle from Chapters Indigo it’s so clean and fresh and makes a clean apartment feel like bliss.

Also on hand is my adorable “Be Happy” notebook from Chapters. Sometimes we all need a reminder and I still feel like there’s always a place fro handwritten lists and notes, don’t you? For touch up’s YSL’s Rouge Volupte Lipstick in Peach Passion.

We all know I like to spend a pretty penny on Diptyque candles but after my Christmas haul I thought it best to burn the last of my minis (Tubereuse) during these summer nights.

My Milk BKR from Blossom Lounge holds a firm place on my desk. It matches the white decor and forces me to stay hydrated while I work.

I recently received Essie’s Summer 2014 Collection, Haute in the Heat and I’m keeping them close by in case I need a quick touch up before an event. Naturally I have nail polish remover close at hand too 😉

BKR obsessed. My boss makes fun of me for it. Kitten (baby pink) has always been by my MAC’s side but in th elast couple of weeks I welcomed Boy (baby blue) and Chip (Mint green). Now I have no reason not to be hydrated this summer, right? These beauties are all available at Blossom Lounge.

fresh candles sugar lemon and grapefruit

fresh candles sugar lemon and grapefruit

{Fresh candles – scented citrus}

It’s a hard pill to swallow when you’re saying goodbye to your beloved fig and pine home fragrances but I know they don’t have place in the home on a hot summer’s day. If you saw my holiday fragrance piece you’ll know I’m a total candle snob and skincare pros, Fresh have caught my attention with their upcoming candle releases.

It’s not normally the fragrant playground I tend to spend my time in but I’ll admit it, I’ve started dabbling a little a few citrus notes…

Hesperides Grapefruit fresh candle

{Fresh – Hesperides Grapefruit}

These candles are perfect for the next time you plan to have a few bros over for a barbecue. Hesperides Grapefruit is a bright, invigorating scent that fills your home with notes that scream ‘clean’. If I had to pick one it’d be this baby.

Fresh lemon

{Fresh – Sugar Lemon}

The Sugar Lemon candle is essentially lemonade in wax form. It’s delicious and sweet but not overbearing. Ideal for scorching days, non?

This combination of lemon sprinkled with sugar is best served with a mojito in hand and your feet up as your sit in your balcony.

You can find these beauties on Sephora.com come July for $65 a pop.

Beauty Blogger Candle Collection

Beauty Blogger Candle Collection

My Instagram is a pretty accurate representation of the things I love most on a daily basis. Take food, beauty, candles and family and friends, and you pretty much have all my interests in one channel.

Over the last few months I’ve developed a bit of a collection and out of my ever growing set up you must know that only three of them were press samples two gifts and the rest bought. Yep, I spend a little too much on luxury candles but It’s my weakness.

There’s nothing I love more than chilling at home with a good movie, a cup of tea in hand and a delectably scented candle setting the mood. Here are my favourites a few lines about why they’re oh so worth it.

 Laura Mercier Warm Roasted Chestnuts

{Laura Mercier – Warm Roasted Chestnuts Signature Candle}

This Candle was gifted to me by one of my girlfriends and I couldn’t help but squeal when I saw it. I’ve had my eye on this beauty for a while now and the scent was the perfect blend of Roasted chestnuts, nutmeg, spicy berry, clove and warm vanilla sugar cream to emulate the warmth of winter.

Diptyque Hazelnut Candle

{Diptyque Noisetier ‘Hazelnut’ Candle}

I love hazelnut anything. syrup, body lotions, gelato. It’s one of my favourite flavours in the food and fragrance world and when I saw this online a few months ago I hurried to Holts to grab one. Sadly it wasn’t there but you can imagine my excitement when I recently popped in to see it sitting on the shelves.

Diptyque has long been one of my favourite go-to’s for luxury candles and I had high hopes for this. The throw wasn’t as strong as previous candles I’ve owned be but it’s still my favourite to burn when I’m working on the blog.

Rodial

{Rodial Mary Katrantzou Candle}

Housed in Mary’s famous ‘Babelle‘ print, this is one of my favourite’s (next to Fresh Life) when it comes to washroom ‘clean’ scents. I’d also burn it during the day for a lighter touch but for some, the mix of orange and lemon sitting atop a fruity and floral pineapple and orange blossom may be a little too citrusy if it’s warmth and comfort that you want from a candle.

IMG_8410

{Givenchy Dahlia Noir Candle}

The Givenchy team gifted this candle to me for my Birthday of this year and I was in candlelight heaven whenever I’d burn this. Even my boyfriend loved it! Reminiscent of the EDP (not the EDT shown in the photo, though I do prefer the latter as my fragrance), the candle omits a robust concoction of woody and floral notes to create a room filled with luxury.

This candle is so strong that even when it’s unlit it still smells incredible enough to notice when you walk past it.

Fresh Life Candle and Fragrance

{Fresh – Fresh Life Candle}

The Fresh Life fragrance reminds me of what a clean, country home would smell like in the midst of spring. A infusion of citrusy and ‘fresh’ notes, the candle and fragrance feel identical in their blend and I love this one for the washroom or my desk.

Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin Candle

{Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin Candle}

I keep Jo Malone close to my heart but try to stay away as the price tag is hefty. Lime Basil and Mandarin burns strong in my kitchen (perfect setting) while I’m cooking and I love that the throw on this votive is so huge for such a little guy.

library of flowers candle linden

{Library of Flowers – Linden}

Library of FLowers – Linden was candle that surprised and impressed me the most. Housed in a tiny glass jar with a rose gold, tin lid, it was a no brainer when I saw the remarkably awesome price at $15 for this gorgeous scent.

I wasn’t sure how to describe it when I smelled it but it’s just so worth every penny and believe me when I say the scent fills up every inch of my living room. If you’re going to experiment with candles for the first time then DEFINITELY get this one.

 lolia relax candle

{Lollia – Relax}

This Lollia candle (aside from it’s obvious good looks) won my heart at first sniff. It sits comfortably in my bedroom and I love that the wick offers a cute charm to hang off the jar once you snip it.

lollia relax candle

{Relax Candle}

The scent is a therapeutic and feminine blend of XXXX that is hard not to love ‘Relax‘, whatever your taste. I’ve only burnt it a couple of times and find that the throw isn’t the greatest but I’m hoping after I break it in a little more it’ll burn stronger.

Diptyque Pine Candle Christmas 2013

{Diptyque Pine Bark Holiday Candle}

The Christmas candle, without a doubt. Sitting by my apartment entrance it allows guests to smell the woody and smoky accents of pine trees and see the lit Christmas tree the moment they step in. It’s the city girl’s cheat to a real tree 😉

Diptyque Candle Nordstrom

{Diptyque Set of 10 votive Candles at Nordstrom}

This year I thought it apt to treat myself to a collection of Diptyque candles to allow me to experience more outside my usual comfort zone. A great price of XX for 10 votives and the chance to experience more than one scent without spending a fortune.

Something to note, the smallest size available for sale individually at Holts is $36 so this is a great way to sample before you buy.

My old favourites still stand strong: Figuier and Baies

New favourites have been added to the roster: Feu De Bois, Roses, Ambre, Patchouli

I loathe: Tubereuse and Cannelle (Cinnamon).

sonia kashuk for target

Library of flowers with Sonia's showers

{Sonia Kashuk Body Care for Target}

The older you get the more appropriate you feel like it is to love anything covered in floral arrangements and loaded with floral scents. I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve taken a liking to my rose and petal based scents but diversity doesn’t hurt anyone right?

Sonia Kashuk has launched a new line of body care for Target (welcome to Canada!) and it’s a line you’ll be excited to show off in your washroom.

 sonia kashuk redpromisia eau de toilette

{Sonia Kashuk Red Promisia Eau De Toilette – $19.99}

The fragrance: sitting a little on the youthful side I personally think it’s more of a luxurious linen spray if not a gift to the teen in your life. Is that wrong? I think it’s acceptable to have my sheets scented with sandalwood, jasmine and vanilla.

sonia kashuk body wash creme shower gel

{Sonia Kashuk Pink Innocencia Creme Body Wash and Purple Seductia Shower Gel – $8.99}

My favourite part of the collection these shower gels and cremes offer scents to make any shower experience an absolute delight. After a long, exhausting day it never felt so good to light a candle and wash away the worries with this uplifting duo.

Pink Innocencia featuring clean notes of edelweiss and white tea and Purple Seductia ribboned with orange blossom and sweet almond protein.

library of flowers linden candle

{Library of Flowers – Linden Candle – $15}

Burning candles has become a standard part of my home-life and showers are no exception. This was the perfect fit for showers with this line of products.

This particular little gem of a find had my heart bursting. Housed in a dainty glass jar that was wrapped in the most elegant of labels I squealed when I saw and sniffed this baby at Blossom Lounge. $15? I should have bought three…

Thanks to owner, Shauna for gifting this to me. Believe I will be back for more of these Library of Flowers including the honeycomb!

sonia kashuk yellow alluriana body butter

{Sonia Kasuk – Yellow Alluriana Body Butter – $10.99}

sonia kashuk yellow alluriana hand creme cream

{Sonia Kasuk – Yellow Alluriana Hand Creme – $6.99}

The last two I had a love/hate relationship with. I am not a citrus loving girl by any means but I know many of you beautiful readers may be. Personally I think the notes work perfectly in a hand cream. Refreshing, clean and light, I keep this one on my desk. For my entire body this scent wouldn’t be my first choice – I’d opt for the Red Promisia body butter instead. But that’s just me.

Have you seen this collection on the shelves yet?
