maybelline bold matte lipstick

Matte lipsticks have long since been my jam. I’m talking, Stila’s All Day Liquid Lipstick, Nars’ Velvet Matte Pencils and Shu Uemura’s My Dear Matte Lipsticks – all offering a prestige pout that’s stamped with a colourful approval.

Revlon’s Colorburst Matte Balms brought me a ton of joy with their silky finish and bold, beautiful colours but now their’s a new, affordable collection in town and I’m all swoons.

Enter Maybelline’s new Creamy Matte collection and boy are they just that. Creamy lippies in the most insatiable range of colours. I often say this when I’m really loving a product — these are so freakin’ good I want to eat em’.

Canada’s been graced with eight shades of pinks, nudes and reds (gutted the wine shade isn’t available here). Check out my absolute faves below.

Do you even know how hard it is for an olive skinned girl to find a nude lipstick that doesn’t wash her out? This shade is effortless on any complexion. So much love <3

{Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs}

I’m not one to rant and rave and review an entire collection of products without a particular story in mind but this lipstick collection just had to take centre stage. Despite my intitial hesitations about the nude collection to precede, I’m so impressed…

{Good enough to eat…}

You know me. I hate nudes.  I very rarely wear nudes cuz I’m a bold girl all the way but since I’ve started making more effort with eye shadow, I’ve been becoming more accepting.

Then the Maybelline Buffs collection happened and I’m all over it.

{High pigment creams}

A collection of high-pigment, caramel, vanilla and berry, creamy lipsticks that offer the second edition to last year’s Colour Sensational Vivids. If you’ve followed the blog since then you’ll know I was so mad about those lipsticks I wore them all through Fashion Week…

While I do love all of these colours I obviously can’t pull them all off – I’d rather not look washed out. The nudes offer a range of colours to suit a variety of skin tones and for my olive (okay now grey/yellow) complexion I prefer the caramel/berry tones.

{Maybelline Color Sensational vivids Collection}

 Sara Baker!

Congrats girl! You’ve won SIX of these incredible lipsticks! Let your spring/summer of colour begin!

During Toronto Fashion Week I ran a contest for a lucky gal to win six of Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivids Lipsticks. I honestly cannot pick a favourite. Shocking Coral (bottom right) is currently my favourite pink lippie – so brightening. Hot Plum (bottom left) is my favourite ‘high-fashion’ shade – so sexy! Vivid Rose and Electric orange (the two middle shades) are my favourite everyday wear shades. Gah how’s a girl to choose one?!

Do you have a favourite vivid?

Maybelline Vivids

{Vivid Rose}

The ladykiller

Man these lipsticks look good enough to eat. The first of the vivids I’ll be wearing during Toronto Fashion Week is the stunning Vivid Rose. A blue-toned and rich pink that will suit any skin tone, despite what you may think. Why did you call it the ‘The Ladykiller’ you might ask? Because it’s the kinda shade that will have women stopping you in the street to ask what you’re wearing.
