Really, truly, honestly. I couldn’t possibly try to write up all the beauty products that were my favourite this year, especially when it comes to skincare. SO I’ll make an effort to film a video (!) on my favourites before the quarter ends.

In the mean time click to “read more” and check out the slide show of the products I’ve loved all year round.

face of the week the burgundy book favourites

{June favourites: Luxury look of the week}

This week has been nothing short of exhausting and having to show a LOT of face for work. Amidst such busy times I needed a beauty-set up that would hod up it’s end of the bargain. Helping me put my best face forward were pieces from the likes of Yves Saint LaurentGivenchyGuerlainMaybellineDior and Benefit.

ysl youth liberator foundation serum

{Yves Saint Laurent – Youth Liberator Serum Foundation}

This little number is magic in a bottle for your skin. Combining YSL’s award-winning serum with a luminous, medium-to-full coverage foundation. Topping it all off with a modest SPF 20, I love everything about what this does for my skin short term and long term and I get sooooo many compliments when I wear it!

yves saint laurent touche eclat beautezinexysl

{Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat No. 2}

Touche Eclat has for years been my favourite product for masking dark discolouration on areas of my face that need illuminating. I recently ran out of this beauty staple but my girl @Beautezine gifted me with my very own engraved version at her BeautezinexYSL event. Woohoo!

givenchy prisme libre loose powder

{Givenchy Prisme Libre – Loose Powder – in Delicate Beige}

I have been obsessed with this powder. I hate to say it but Givenchy’s Prisme Libre isn’t out in Canada until 2015 BUT you can purchase it online here. I usually hate loose powders but this one reduces shine with the perfect luminous finish. The quad contains 4 shades that work to adjust redness and illuminate your skin tone. No more chalky cheeks!

benefit theyre real push up liner dior it lash maybelline brow drama

{The eyes}

This trio has been my eye opening go-to for the week. Maybelline’s new Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara is pretty awesome in adding depth and setting my brows. The only downfall to the product is that you still need to fill your brows in to add a sense of volume — for Gimme Brow I am forever grateful.

Dior’s It Lash Mascara is serious false-lash effect business. Man does it give volume and separate my lashes without my having to work too hard at it. It’s taken first place in a close competition of mascaras for the time being.

Benefit’s they’re Real! Push Up Liner feels like it’s been my first born child. You all know I work for the brand but let me be real (no pun intended) with you for a second. Before this I would avoid liner like the plague simply because It was  too much work and I always messed up. With this liner I get it it right every time and it stays on all day. No really, literally, all day.

My only downfall with this God-send is the fact that after using it once, the outer layer of each use after that can be a bit dry. Bound to happen when you’re storing a wet product in a chamber. My solution was just to wipe the top layer sideways on the back of my hand to warm it up. BOOM wet liner ready to go again.

guerlain terracotta 30 ans limited edition

{Cheek popper}

This Limited Edition Terracotta Sun Celebration Palette by Guerlain is such a special item to the geekiest of make up buffs. Featuring two bronzers, a peach blush and a pink blush, the gold middle is a fancy addition. The huge magnetic mirror is a bonus and the main reason I’ve carried it in my purse all week.

rema gouyez beauty look

{The staple look}

Today I’m wearing it with Julianne’s Nude by L’Oreal Paris for The Exclusives collection but during the week I was wearing a red lip for more drama.

home desk

{Home office}

A few products have been sitting on my desk for a little too long lately so I thought I’d make a point of sharing my desk side essentials.

Whilst hard at work I feel like there’s always a place for a nice candle. During the day I’m burning Hobnail Waterlilly candle from Chapters Indigo it’s so clean and fresh and makes a clean apartment feel like bliss.

Also on hand is my adorable “Be Happy” notebook from Chapters. Sometimes we all need a reminder and I still feel like there’s always a place fro handwritten lists and notes, don’t you? For touch up’s YSL’s Rouge Volupte Lipstick in Peach Passion.

We all know I like to spend a pretty penny on Diptyque candles but after my Christmas haul I thought it best to burn the last of my minis (Tubereuse) during these summer nights.

My Milk BKR from Blossom Lounge holds a firm place on my desk. It matches the white decor and forces me to stay hydrated while I work.

{Work Office}

I recently received Essie’s Summer 2014 Collection, Haute in the Heat and I’m keeping them close by in case I need a quick touch up before an event. Naturally I have nail polish remover close at hand too 😉

BKR obsessed. My boss makes fun of me for it. Kitten (baby pink) has always been by my MAC’s side but in th elast couple of weeks I welcomed Boy (baby blue) and Chip (Mint green). Now I have no reason not to be hydrated this summer, right? These beauties are all available at Blossom Lounge.

Skincare posts can often be an epic tale of science, highs and lows, pros and cons and then some on a comparison table. In this post I’ll keep it simple. These products are the cream of the crop right now and in a few lines I’ll let you know why I’m constantly lugging them around. Even on the shortest of trips.

1. Shu Uemura Ultime 8 Cleansing Oil $98 – Liquid silk that melts off the slough of makeup from a long day and strips your skin of grime using eight botanicals. Brightening, strengthening, nourishing and oh my does it smell sublime — a staple in any cleansing routine.

2. The Body Shop Chamomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter $15 – Talk about exciting (well to me anyway) The Body Shop are releasing a cleansing butter that smells like childhood and makes your skin feel petal soft — seriously. It’s great for when your skin isn’t feeling it’s best and it soothes your skin and mind while you wash away the day’s face.

3. Pure and Simple Skin softening Lotion $34.95 – Sometimes all you need in life is a simple moisturizer that will do just that without irritating your skin. It’s non-greasy, super delicate and doubles up as an eye cream so it’s the perfect product to travel with (P.S. It’s all natural).

4. Indeed Labs Hydraluron $19.99 – If intense hydration is all you need then this serum is all you’ll want. Especially going in to fall I wear this baby when my skin is feeling tight.

5. Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Tonic $34 – I. Am. Obsessed. This is my favourite toner and has been for a while simply because it feel like silk. After washing your face with a foaming cleanser it can often feel and look dry, this toner will bring it back to health and then some. Instant revival in a bottle.

6. Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa Mask $44 – I have a couple of overnight sleeping facial creams but since I love hydration so much (it’s the best skin problem solver) this one is my number one. Go to sleep with dull, lacking skin — wake up with a plump, bright, soft face. The only downfall? No kisses on the cheeks allowed when this is on so your beau won’t love it.

7. Rosa Artica Eye Balm $48 – This utra-soft eye cream has the best name ever. Pop it in the fridge for an extra cooling effect, it literally brightens, tightens and refreshes my eye bags in no time. I pretty much can’t wake up without it

8. Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50 $42 – I wore this all through summer and I won’t stop now. The easiest way to get intense protection and although I’m not crazy about the scent, the light brown shade of the product adds a little warmth to my paling skin.

9. Clarisonic Aria $225 – I will never live without my Clarisonic. Ever. There’s something to be said about how iconic this product has become and I totally get why. It’s the answer to clearer, cleaner, brighter and smoother skin. This does what no product can but trust me when I say it boosts the results of anything you use and you’ll notice a difference within the first week.

10. Eucerin Clarifying $11.76 – I love toners, can you tell? The Eucerin Clarifying Toner works best for times when I’m having a bit of a breakout. It’s refreshing but gentle and I feel (though I could be imagining this) like it calms down the intensity of new breakouts that I often get.
