Beauty Blogger Candle Collection

Beauty Blogger Candle Collection

My Instagram is a pretty accurate representation of the things I love most on a daily basis. Take food, beauty, candles and family and friends, and you pretty much have all my interests in one channel.

Over the last few months I’ve developed a bit of a collection and out of my ever growing set up you must know that only three of them were press samples two gifts and the rest bought. Yep, I spend a little too much on luxury candles but It’s my weakness.

There’s nothing I love more than chilling at home with a good movie, a cup of tea in hand and a delectably scented candle setting the mood. Here are my favourites a few lines about why they’re oh so worth it.

 Laura Mercier Warm Roasted Chestnuts

{Laura Mercier – Warm Roasted Chestnuts Signature Candle}

This Candle was gifted to me by one of my girlfriends and I couldn’t help but squeal when I saw it. I’ve had my eye on this beauty for a while now and the scent was the perfect blend of Roasted chestnuts, nutmeg, spicy berry, clove and warm vanilla sugar cream to emulate the warmth of winter.

Diptyque Hazelnut Candle

{Diptyque Noisetier ‘Hazelnut’ Candle}

I love hazelnut anything. syrup, body lotions, gelato. It’s one of my favourite flavours in the food and fragrance world and when I saw this online a few months ago I hurried to Holts to grab one. Sadly it wasn’t there but you can imagine my excitement when I recently popped in to see it sitting on the shelves.

Diptyque has long been one of my favourite go-to’s for luxury candles and I had high hopes for this. The throw wasn’t as strong as previous candles I’ve owned be but it’s still my favourite to burn when I’m working on the blog.

Rodial

{Rodial Mary Katrantzou Candle}

Housed in Mary’s famous ‘Babelle‘ print, this is one of my favourite’s (next to Fresh Life) when it comes to washroom ‘clean’ scents. I’d also burn it during the day for a lighter touch but for some, the mix of orange and lemon sitting atop a fruity and floral pineapple and orange blossom may be a little too citrusy if it’s warmth and comfort that you want from a candle.

{Givenchy Dahlia Noir Candle}

The Givenchy team gifted this candle to me for my Birthday of this year and I was in candlelight heaven whenever I’d burn this. Even my boyfriend loved it! Reminiscent of the EDP (not the EDT shown in the photo, though I do prefer the latter as my fragrance), the candle omits a robust concoction of woody and floral notes to create a room filled with luxury.

This candle is so strong that even when it’s unlit it still smells incredible enough to notice when you walk past it.

Fresh Life Candle and Fragrance

{Fresh – Fresh Life Candle}

The Fresh Life fragrance reminds me of what a clean, country home would smell like in the midst of spring. A infusion of citrusy and ‘fresh’ notes, the candle and fragrance feel identical in their blend and I love this one for the washroom or my desk.

Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin Candle

{Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin Candle}

I keep Jo Malone close to my heart but try to stay away as the price tag is hefty. Lime Basil and Mandarin burns strong in my kitchen (perfect setting) while I’m cooking and I love that the throw on this votive is so huge for such a little guy.

library of flowers candle linden

{Library of Flowers – Linden}

Library of FLowers – Linden was candle that surprised and impressed me the most. Housed in a tiny glass jar with a rose gold, tin lid, it was a no brainer when I saw the remarkably awesome price at $15 for this gorgeous scent.

I wasn’t sure how to describe it when I smelled it but it’s just so worth every penny and believe me when I say the scent fills up every inch of my living room. If you’re going to experiment with candles for the first time then DEFINITELY get this one.

 lolia relax candle

{Lollia – Relax}

This Lollia candle (aside from it’s obvious good looks) won my heart at first sniff. It sits comfortably in my bedroom and I love that the wick offers a cute charm to hang off the jar once you snip it.

lollia relax candle

{Relax Candle}

The scent is a therapeutic and feminine blend of XXXX that is hard not to love ‘Relax‘, whatever your taste. I’ve only burnt it a couple of times and find that the throw isn’t the greatest but I’m hoping after I break it in a little more it’ll burn stronger.

Diptyque Pine Candle Christmas 2013

{Diptyque Pine Bark Holiday Candle}

The Christmas candle, without a doubt. Sitting by my apartment entrance it allows guests to smell the woody and smoky accents of pine trees and see the lit Christmas tree the moment they step in. It’s the city girl’s cheat to a real tree 😉

Diptyque Candle Nordstrom

{Diptyque Set of 10 votive Candles at Nordstrom}

This year I thought it apt to treat myself to a collection of Diptyque candles to allow me to experience more outside my usual comfort zone. A great price of XX for 10 votives and the chance to experience more than one scent without spending a fortune.

Something to note, the smallest size available for sale individually at Holts is $36 so this is a great way to sample before you buy.

My old favourites still stand strong: Figuier and Baies

New favourites have been added to the roster: Feu De Bois, Roses, Ambre, Patchouli

I loathe: Tubereuse and Cannelle (Cinnamon).

{The Perfume Edit}

Yes, the gift of fragrance is absolutely a personal one but when you know who you’re buying for, it makes it all the more fun, doesn’t it? Being a beauty addict makes things a little more fun though – satisfy more than one personality, that’s what I say.

best perfumes to gift

These five fragrances are a personification of the different sides of me that need tending to. After all, isn’t that what a fragrance is for? Adding a little scented sensuality in to a girl’s life?

Fresh Life Perfume

{So fresh and so clean}

Fresh Life, is for the girl that hates those warm, vanilla scents. Gift this gentle and clean perfume to the girl that likes to step outside of the mainstream fragrance trends. The girlfriend that I know would love this is sporty but sassy and sexy. She’s a real chameleon so you can’t over-complicate a perfume.

marc jacobs perfume

{The University girl}

I fell in love with this fragrance roughly six years ago whilst in awe of a classy roommate of mine. She was eastern european and made of money but she never showed off. She was so softly spoken and so well put together. Marc Jacobs’ Daisy is the fragrance that completes the classiest of women with a dry down that wouldn’t overwhelm the smallest of creatures. Utterly delicate.

Notes: Strawberry, Violet Leaves, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Gardenia, Violet Petals, Jasmine Petals, Musk, Vanilla, White Woods.

Miss Dior perfume

{My mum comes with me every where – Miss Dior}

I know I’m not the only one who does this. I miss my mum so much I sometimes wear her perfume just to be reminded of her. This scent reminds me of the times we shared on a summer vacation years ago. I know women of all ages that enjoy this vibrant fragrance.

Go for this if you know your girl is hooked by a fruity top note with a floral dry down.

Notes: Italian Mandarin Essence, Egyptian Jasmine Absolute, Indonesian Patchouli Essence.

Roses de Chloe

{The one, The Romantic}

This fragrance is everything I’m in love with right now. It’s feminine, it’s dainty it’s soft and it’s pretty. It’s for the girl that falls in love with everything around her.

Roses de Chloe is a perfume that’s soft and powdery with a hint of sweet flower. the best way to describe this? As tender as a petal. Quite honestly, I just want to bathe in it.

Notes: bergamot, damascena rose essence, magnolia accord, white musk and amber

Tom Ford Violet Blonde

{The Money Maker}

Sure, this one isn’t for every one. It may even be a deterrent to most for the simple fact that it featured those intense, opulent notes. An extravagant gift at $80 for 30ml of juice but the price is reflective of the ingredients. Complicated, strong and bold, this is for a woman that already has a library of perfume.

Notes: Violet Leaf Absolute, Italian Mandarin, Baie Rose, Tuscan Orris Absolute, Tuscan Orris Butter, Jasmin Sambac, Sampaquita, Benzoin, Cedarwood, Vetiver Absolute, Musk, Soft Suede
