For some reason the internet has had a intense romance with everything that is unicorn related – from Cafe’s in Bangkok to purses and bags brought to you by skinny dip. I never really understood the craze until I swiped this beaut of a highlighter on my cheekbones…

{Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks – Brave Beauty}

This Fall 2014 Shu Uemura welcomes a generous collection of lipsticks, highlighting sticks, eye shadows, lashes and more in the most beautiful of packages. Though the Brave Beauty collection screams summer, it’s refreshing to see a range of hues that offer more than the anniversary shades of mulled wine. View Post

February seems to be the month of blush — who am I to complain? If it’s not a bold lipstick I’m cooing over it’s a brightly pigmented blush. I’m a sucker for colour. Maybelline’s on a roll with it’s offerings and this round of blushers is a shining example.

{Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush in Light Bronze}

Oh hello gorgeous and glittering higlighter/bronzer hybrid. If you’re a beauty nerd you’ll know how iconic the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick is for what it does to your cheeks. The Maybelline Face Studio Master Hi-Light blushes offer a variety of packed powders in one palette for poppin’ cheeks. Warm Nude is a blend of illuminating pinks and shimmering golds — the light catches the product perfectly on your J-Lo-esque cheekbones.

The shade Pink Rose I would accept as more of a blush than a bronzer or highlighter – it might be a little too intense to sweep this over your forehead and chin so I’d recommend saving this for a multi-dimensional, romantic flush instead.

If I had to be selective about the formula of my cheek colour I’d choose a cream blush over a powder any day. That is if I’m judging entirely on the finished effect on my cheeks. There’s something about a cream that allows for a much more natural flush. Wouldn’t you agree?

Lancome holiday look 2013

Lancome holiday look 2013

{Easy and quick Christmas beauty}

I know what you’re thinking, ‘ Does she ever tire of red lipstick?’, kinda not. I promise there are alternative looks coming up on TBB but I just had to show off this gorgeous collection from Lancome’s 2013 offering. Here I’m wearing the (Fall) Blush Rose Desir with swirls of Rose Étincelle highlighter over top. Lancome’s Hypnose Mascara on the lashes and the L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Caprice.

{Favourite pieces of Lancome’s latest collections}

In the craziness that has been the last few weeks I’ve been playing around with a few pieces of the Lancome Fall and Christmas collection from recent releases. Still available on the US site, The L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Caprice is the creamiest, brightest red you’ll find in a lippie. It was part of the Fall collection but the closest match for a permanent option would be the shade Saffron Silk.

rose Étincelle

My favourite part of Holiday 2013 by Lancome, Rose Étincelle Highlighter is a pink-hued frosting for the tops of your cheeks. I used a fan brush to sweep this over my cheeks and brow bone. The result? sparkling without a glittery look – it catches the light perfectly. This is easily a product you’d use all year around.

Next to the Rose Étincelle Highlighter, the Étincelle de Neige Vernis in Love nail polish is impressive in it’s own right. I haven’t been able to swatch it because I’m wearing Essie Gel this week  but check out the stunning swatch on Maggie’s Makeup Blog! Really does look like snow on the fingertips.

Oh so impressed with this L’Absolu Rouge formula and kinda wana get my hands on more shades!

**These beautilicious products were sent to The Burgundy Book for consideration and they made the cut!**
