clarisonic deep pore cleansing system

scar clearing beauty products

{The dream team}

I know most women probably suffer the same fate as me but every so often around that time of month I see a few pimples pop up on my complexion here and there. I’m well past the age of acne breakout outs but when these little critters arrive they usually leave behind a reminder that they were there.

clarisonic deep pore cleansing system

{Clarisonic Deep Pore Detoxifying Solution}

I loathe pimple scarring! I’d rather not cake on the concealer to congest my skin so set out to find  a dream team of a skincare routine that would help make them disappear. First order of business. Cleansing. Perturbed by my constant failures of decongesting mask after mask I finally found a detoxifying routine that works. The new Clarisonic Deep Pore Cleansing Clay Mask and Gel Cleanser with the deep pore cleansing brush head is everything and more.

Step one: cleanse your skin using the gel cleanser and Clarisonic

Step two: apply a thin layer of the deep pore cleansing mask and leave on for ten minutes

Step three: wet the brush head and remove the mask using the device

Result? The cleanest, clearest skin you’ll ever have and boy is it immediately noticeable.

vichy pro even night lancome dreamtone

{The star serums}

Talking more longterm, dark-spot-like scars are basically post-inflammatory pigmentation and aren’t necessarily permanent damage. That being said, the increased melanin (darker pigmented skin cells) to the surface of your skin are seriously sensitive to the sun and can get darker if you’re not using sun-protection.

Before my sunscreen and day cream I apply Lancome’s Dreamtone Serum which really is a dream when it comes to brightening my overall skintone and evening out my patchy colouring after a rough ride. Tried, tested and approved as the best.

At night I use a targeted serum, Vichy’s ProEven Concentrate for Dark Spots. This lightweight product works the overnight shift to help resurface the skin let you wake with brighter skin.

palmers skin therapy oil

{Hydration and Repair}

To finish it off with added hydration and repairing properties overnight, I use Palmer’s Skin Therapy Oil For Face or The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Serum-in Oil. Oils increase the blood circulation to the skin offer more of those fancy white blood cells to help with the healing process of the dead skin cells. It contains ten different types of oils including Argan oil for repairing and hydrating properties, Vitamin E oil for scar healing and Vitamin C oil for brightening.

I had three (to be precise) scars on my left cheek and after a month of trying this set up they’re almost gone.

Don’t forget though…if you don’t wear SPF everyday then you may as well throw these efforts away!

Lancome holiday look 2013

Lancome holiday look 2013

{Easy and quick Christmas beauty}

I know what you’re thinking, ‘ Does she ever tire of red lipstick?’, kinda not. I promise there are alternative looks coming up on TBB but I just had to show off this gorgeous collection from Lancome’s 2013 offering. Here I’m wearing the (Fall) Blush Rose Desir with swirls of Rose Étincelle highlighter over top. Lancome’s Hypnose Mascara on the lashes and the L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Caprice.

{Favourite pieces of Lancome’s latest collections}

In the craziness that has been the last few weeks I’ve been playing around with a few pieces of the Lancome Fall and Christmas collection from recent releases. Still available on the US site, The L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Caprice is the creamiest, brightest red you’ll find in a lippie. It was part of the Fall collection but the closest match for a permanent option would be the shade Saffron Silk.

rose Étincelle

My favourite part of Holiday 2013 by Lancome, Rose Étincelle Highlighter is a pink-hued frosting for the tops of your cheeks. I used a fan brush to sweep this over my cheeks and brow bone. The result? sparkling without a glittery look – it catches the light perfectly. This is easily a product you’d use all year around.

{Étincelle de Neige}

Next to the Rose Étincelle Highlighter, the Étincelle de Neige Vernis in Love nail polish is impressive in it’s own right. I haven’t been able to swatch it because I’m wearing Essie Gel this week  but check out the stunning swatch on Maggie’s Makeup Blog! Really does look like snow on the fingertips.

Oh so impressed with this L’Absolu Rouge formula and kinda wana get my hands on more shades!

**These beautilicious products were sent to The Burgundy Book for consideration and they made the cut!**

{Spring lip gloss now}

I’m not sure what caused the shift in shade love but for the past week I’ve been obsessing with corals again. Even stranger…corals in gloss. Yes I! I who said that gloss was for single girls.

It’s like that pregnant woman who used to loathe the smell of a Big Mac but since the bundle of joy came along that burger is all she can think about. (Can you tell I’m hungry?) I can assure you, I’m not expecting but I am loving a good lip gloss lately…

heart shaped marc jacobs lip gloss

{Marc Jacobs Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl in Heart shaped kisses}

It actually all started with the arrival of Marc Jacob’s Lust for Lacquer lip glosses. I did have a soft spot for Lancome’s Gloss in Love beforehand but it was the tingling, peppermint of Marc’s collection that hooked me.

146 Peach show

{Peach show for the snow}

Back in the rotation, Lancome’s Gloss in Love in Peach Show it a light and wonderful gloss that doesn’t feel like tar on the lips. Yes, that’s right, you can still smooch with that balmy texture.

20 C cool pink gloss

{Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited in PK 20 C}

Another formula to fall in love with is Shu Uemura’s Gloss Unlimited. This too feels oh so silky on the lips and there’s a myriad of colours to choose from. This would be my least favourite shade because it’s so cool in tone (totally right for blondes, though!)

Lancome Palette

{Instant beautifiers – Lancome Blush Subtil Palette and Rouge in Love Lipstick}

It’s pouring with rain today and as I reach for my Lancome Palette I wonder if it would be a sin to wear shimmer in to fall. The majority of me is thinking not. I’ve had to go on quite a few short trips this past season and this palette was a saviour when it came to packing light.

Boasting a stunning (orgasm-like) shade of blush with a golden highlighter and a teracotta-brown bronzer, Blush Subtil  is a prettifier in a palette. $45 for three products? Steal-worthy.

{Rouge in Love in #170N – Sequence of Love}

The Rouge in Love lipsticks have been a firm favourite of mine in terms of formula and whilst this red shade wasn’t as pigmented as I hoped it would have been, it still beats many out there with it’s hydrating texture. If your lips aren’t naturally dark like mine, it’s definitely worth getting your hands on for a brightening red.

{Swatchin’}

A little sheer but still packed with colour. Have you tried the Rouge in Love lipsticks?
