huda beauty make up

Hey YA’LL (that phrase is on the mind – currently sat in Paris with a few Texans). I’ve been meaning to put up this post for a while simply because I found a groove in my daily make up bag that works so well – thought I’d share in case you love it too. Nothing super fancy or creative just my standard I’m-in-a-rush-to-work type thing that’s either a nude lip look or red lip look.

HIT IT!

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with founders of the brand, NudeStix to hear their story behind why this beauty revolution was set to be a part of ever woman’s make up bag. Sure, we love our luxurious palettes and bullets of bright and bold colour — but some most days we just want to look, simply pretty.

revlon colorburst matte lacquer balms

{Revlon Colorburst balms}

There comes a time in every beauty addict’s life when she meets a product that supersedes her expectations. I first spotted the incredibly vibrant, pink and matte shade, Unapologetic on Deanne from My Fash Avenue. Seriously the girl couldn’t have looked any more fly in this lippie. Naturally, a bold shade like that sparked my curiosity.

 Just look at the pigment on these babies. I’m usually a matte lady but even the lacquers had me lusting for every shade. I’m finding that on the days I’m indecisive about which lippie to pick, I’ll reach for one of these. They just always get it right. Containing a triple butter complex of sheacoconut and mango butters you’ll never be left with cracked lips even with the matte formula.

For those of you (often like me) who need a little more luxury in their products – don’t stop reading just yet.

This product compares so closely to the Rouge Allure Velvet texture by Chanel. Say whaaat? True story. I know, I know. You just wish this was a sexy ‘Mercedes click’, black case as well.

{Matte – Audacious}

A warm coral that’ll see a lot of sun this season – It’s a ‘play-it-safe’, pretty shade that’ll look good on every skin tone.

{Matte – Standout}

Standout is a saucy little shade that appears to plump the lips up for a sexy, burgundy pout. I couldn’t help but wear it for an entire work week and that’s a lot for me…

{Matte – Mischievous}

This light lovely is wearing a little warm after swatching the other shades but you can still see the lighter, cooler hue of coral in it’s pigment. With my ‘pale’ skin I can get away with it now but it may look strange in the summer when I’m sporting a tan. Will keep you posted!

After doing my roundup of baked blushes I found that if I’m not sweeping on that type of blush formula then I’m buffing on a cream colour instead. It’s not to say I don’t reach for my basic Nars Blush every so often but I find that I’m generally alternating between a baked or cream formula.

Of course it wasn’t easy rounding it up but below you’ll find my favourite formulas on the market right now!

Believe it or not it was Revlon that started my obsessed with this texture! A couple of years ago, the brand released this stunning round of cream blushes but (what I felt like was) our of nowhere they disappeared from Canada. I may have shed a tear when I heard the news but now they’re back and I’m a happy girl.

The best part about these Revlon blushes? The texture is so smooth it almost melts when it touches your fingertips or cheeks. It buffs in to the skin with ease and without streaks and I adore how long-lasting it is.

Oh Pinched! Such a cool, unusual colour. Yes, the shimmer looks intense but it really is a warm, gentle, subtle flush of peach. Perfect for any skintone.

{Make Up For Ever HD Blush in 415 Light Rust}

This new round of blushes by Make Up For Ever live up to their Pro name. The HD quality of this formulation mimics the look of a flushed second skin. The silky formula smooths in to a matte finish for a natural pop of colour.

I’ve tried my loose blush brush with the cream blushes but find that they don’t collect the product as much as I would like to. The Make Up For Ever 150 Precision Blush Brush offers a tighter packed bristle to allow for a generous product pick up. Perfect when buffing the colour on to the apple of your cheeks!

I didn’t get round to photographing the centre of attention – Chanel’s Le Blush Creme in #62 but this formula is the most matte of the all. If you’re looking for a fresh, bold and powdery finish then this formula is unbeatable. Plus, it never hurts to pull out a black compact with the two c’s!
