I don’t know what’s been in the water but drugstore beauty brands are really upping their game — who’s thankful?! Sure I’m a sucker for luxe packaging but if the quality of the product is there then I’ll enjoy every sweep of colour they have to offer. L’Oreal’s celeb collaborations have been OK up until this stunning set of shades hit the shelves — the Collection Exclusive Pure Reds are make up candy.

TIFF essentials

{My TIFF beauty essentials}

Let’s be real, I’m not attending star-studded party after party but since the Toronto International Film Festival began I have found the need to use a few extra beauty pieces. A few that I happened to fall in love with were unexpected romances so I had share them with you, naturally. View Post

drugstore skincare cleansers

{Cleansing collections}

In a world where the best of cleansers could set you back a juicy $90, it’s a relief to my credit card to see some frugal options. A couple of these beauty finds have secured a permanent spot in my routine and I couldn’t be happier that they’re less than $20.

drugstore cleansing oils

{Garnier vs L’oreal}

Both brands released a cleansing oil that’s almost identical in texture but my vote goes to Garnier’s Clean Nourishing Cleansing oil. An ever so slightly softer touch to the skin with a soft scent. Perfect for my dry skin, I’m guessing the Jojoba and Macadamia oils have something to do with it.

Garnier Nourish Cleansing Oil – $11.99

L’Oreal Sensational Cleansing Oil – $12.99

loreal sublime soft micellar solution

{L’Oreal Gentle Micellar Solution}

I don’t know but I love this product so much that I’m rationing it despite it’s steal of a price tag at $14.99. This beauty literally melts away my makeup without having to rub at my eyes and the delicate scent isn’t  overbearing in the slightest.

If you checked out any of the other blogs you’ll see this being compared to the Bioderma offering quite a bit but I found that product to sting despite it’s sensitive skin claims. Without a doubt I’ll be buying this beauty over and over again.

olay fresh effects wipes and eye cream

{Olay Fresh Effects}

I can’t even begin to stress how much this Olay collection has impressed me. The wipes just rock my world. One side is soft to gently wipe away the makeup on my skin, the other is rough and works to exfoliate those areas that need a deeper clean.

Perfect for day or night use but I prefer using these in the morning for a wake-up call.

I simply had to mention the Bright on Schedule roller eye cream because I’ve been using it everyday since I got it. The cooling applicator smooths on a product that works in conjunction to instantly de-puff my tired eyes. A major winner of a product!

sublime fresh foaming garnier smoothing cream cleanser

{Cream vs foaming cleanser}

As a gal that suffers with dry skin (thanks Canadian winter), Garnier, yet again wins the battle for best drugstore cleanser. The Smoothing Cream Cleanser feels like butter and works that way too to wash away the day’s look.

L’Oreal’s Purifying Foaming Cleanser is fab if your skin is leans towards the oilier side.

{L’Oreal Privee Collection – Eva Longoria}

Living in Toronto during TIFF is something to write home about, especially knowing Zac Efron and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are in town. Some one needs to put those hotties on lock down for me — I digress. The next best thing that excited me like madness was the fact that L’Oreal released a ‘Privee’ collection of nail polishes and lippies for the special occasion. Oh so luxe black, matte packaging and slimline jars of polish, beautiful beauty without the price tag.

The collection sports nude lippies that are fit for the corresponding star’s skin tone — whilst I personally wouldn’t rock Doutzen’s pale pink choice I’d say the muted nudes showcased by Eva Longoria, Freida Pinto and Jennifer Lopez would work beautifully on any one.

{The ultimate autumn shade – red is in – the runways said so}

My favourite of all the polish shades has to be Eva’s polish choice (closely followed by JLO’s pale, grey shade). This deep, reddish brown is my favourite into-to-fall shade and I can’t stop lacquering my tips with it. The best part? The formula is pretty amazing. A glossy finish that doesn’t need a top coat. Oh and these fabulous, limited edition shades are only $3.99. Bargainous!

{Glossy and rich}

{L’oreal Colour Riche Caresse Lipcolour}

“It’s not that great, it feels like I’m kissing glue”. Boys don’t like sticky kisses. I once asked my other half what it felt like to kiss me whilst I was wearing a lipgloss. Swiftly after this I only began applying my sticky, colourful lips after I said my goodbyes for the day. Now, I’m aiming to buy the lightest of lip products that I can get.

{Shades of pinks}

The new Colour Riche Caresse Lipcolours by L’Oreal are perfect for just that. A weightless lipstick that feels like a lip balm but colours like a sheer lipstick, with great colour payoff. The new product provides way more vibrant colour than their predecessors the Colour Riche Lipbalm (L’Oreal’s answer to the Revlon Lip Butters), yet still adds a moisturizing feel to the lips.

{Pink Cashmere}

{Day time Favourite: Sunset Angora}

{Rose Taffeta}

{Night time favourite: Violet Chiffon}

{Cherry Tulle}

{A great alternative summer, nights lipstick: Violet Chiffon}

Available from July 2010, $12.99.
