cream blush

{Cream Blush Collection}

After doing my roundup of baked blushes I found that if I’m not sweeping on that type of blush formula then I’m buffing on a cream colour instead. It’s not to say I don’t reach for my basic Nars Blush every so often but I find that I’m generally alternating between a baked or cream formula.

Of course it wasn’t easy rounding it up but below you’ll find my favourite formulas on the market right now!

revlon pinched blush

{Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Charmed}

Believe it or not it was Revlon that started my obsessed with this texture! A couple of years ago, the brand released this stunning round of cream blushes but (what I felt like was) our of nowhere they disappeared from Canada. I may have shed a tear when I heard the news but now they’re back and I’m a happy girl.

coral reef revlon blush

{Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Coral Reef}

The best part about these Revlon blushes? The texture is so smooth it almost melts when it touches your fingertips or cheeks. It buffs in to the skin with ease and without streaks and I adore how long-lasting it is.

revlon charmed blush

{Revlo PhotoReady Cream Blush in Pinched}

Oh Pinched! Such a cool, unusual colour. Yes, the shimmer looks intense but it really is a warm, gentle, subtle flush of peach. Perfect for any skintone.

{Make Up For Ever HD Blush in 415 Light Rust}

This new round of blushes by Make Up For Ever live up to their Pro name. The HD quality of this formulation mimics the look of a flushed second skin. The silky formula smooths in to a matte finish for a natural pop of colour.

make up for ever 150 wavy brush

{Make Up For Ever – 150 Wavy, Precision Blush Brush}

I’ve tried my loose blush brush with the cream blushes but find that they don’t collect the product as much as I would like to. The Make Up For Ever 150 Precision Blush Brush offers a tighter packed bristle to allow for a generous product pick up. Perfect when buffing the colour on to the apple of your cheeks!

I didn’t get round to photographing the centre of attention – Chanel’s Le Blush Creme in #62 but this formula is the most matte of the all. If you’re looking for a fresh, bold and powdery finish then this formula is unbeatable. Plus, it never hurts to pull out a black compact with the two c’s!

baked blushes

{The baked blushes}

I can’t quite remember when it first happened but I’m pretty sure my first baked blush experience stemmed from a  session circled around Bourjois in Superdrug. Are you ready to have your mind blown? The Parisian brand has been baking blush since 1863.

151 years later and the market is swelling with this incredibly flattering formula of cheek colour. A baked blush offers a sweep of colour with depth and dimension, without the use of shimmer. Yes, it’s the dream for women of all ages! Below is a fine roster of baked offerings that having made the cut as my top six products.

clinique cheek pop

{Clinique Cheek Pop}

How can you not adore this packaging? A beautiful blush set in a daisy mould. The epitome of spring. These new blushes by Clinique glide over the skin like silk. You can really feel the liquid basis of this powder in the way it slides.  This shade, Berry Pop is the perfect colour for any season.

Teamed with Revlon’s Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious.

hourglass blush

{Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Radiant Magenta}

I mean…When I heard this was being released I may have squealed, jumped for joy, harassed google for all info imaginable and created my wishlist of shades in order of priority.

As modelled above, this blush provides a fever-like flush that looks so natural, so radiant and so smooth. Unlike the Clinique blush this product really is a true powder but it’s feels micro-fine (like it’s face powder counterpart), making it effortless to apply.

marc jacobs blush

{Marc Jacobs Shameless blush in Tantalizing}

I picked this blush up from Sephora a few months ago in my search for a warm, radiant plum shade. This is all that and more. Like Clinique’s offering, this baked blush is oh so silky in it’s application.

Can you handle these shades? Married with Revlon’s Colorburst Matte Balm in Standout. Can you tell I love that formula? More on that later…

chanel blush

{Chanel Joues Contraste in Accent}

Other standout blushes include Chanel’s stunning  Joues Contraste in Accent – caramel toned, rose blush. I believe this shade was part of the Holiday 2013 collection so it may not be available now but they do have a a pretty healthy range of baked blush shades to chose from…

too faced

{Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush}

Shown here in Peach Beach and There’s Something About Berry this duo are intensely shimmer-packed but remind me of the perfect summer glow. I’ll be sweeping layers of this over my tan for sure. Oh, did I mention it’s a healthy 5.5g of product for $38?

blush brush mufe

{The applicator}

To apply my baked blushes with ease I’ve really been enjoying Make Up For Ever’s #156 – Large Flat Blush Brush. It’s loosely packed and distributes the product evenly with no harsh streaks.

new years eve look

new years eve look

{Night in New Year’s Eve Look}

I’m a little too excited for New Year’s tonight and I’m not even going out. Instead I’ll be enjoying a feast of Chinese food (cheat meal!) with my main man some awesome friends. Could you really ask for much else on a cold winter’s night?

new years beauty look

Seeing as I’ll be home I decided to take some inspiration from  Christina Aguilera’s beauty look and opt for something a little seasonally inappropriate.

{The Inspiration}

I saw this beauty look on Christina and majorly swooned. So gorgeous right? I took her orange hues and made them a tad more pink. Coral if you will! I so wish my hair was this blonde though…

eccentrico palette

{Giorgio Armani Eccentrico Palette Holiday 2014}

Armani’s Limited edition palette is a bit of a splurge at $90 odd so I’d fully only recommend it for the true beauty collectors out there. That being said the product is sensational.

{Eccentrico without the overspray}

I was totally not expecting this awesome BAM of colour on the palette. At first I was disappointed that the shimmer was just an overspray and then this happened. I mean, it’s like make up graffiti I LOVE it. It’s just enough shimmer to ring in the New Year I think.

lancome nails

{Lancome Vernis in Love – 520 Étincelle de Neige}

This nail polish drives me wild and is my mani of choice for our night in celebrations. I Love how it looks like hardened, glittery snow on your fingertips.
