{Beauty therapy and bright headbands}

If someone asked me today what would be the one beauty woe I would wish an instant change upon I’d answer without hesitation. It wouldn’t be a smaller nose, it wouldn’t be botox, it’d be healthier hair — you don’t realize how much you value it until you lose it! Since moving to Canada I’ve had nothing but hair trouble and it started with my scalp. For some reason the water here has felt it apt to take a toll on my strands so a saving grace was needed… View Post

{Cream Blush Collection}

After doing my roundup of baked blushes I found that if I’m not sweeping on that type of blush formula then I’m buffing on a cream colour instead. It’s not to say I don’t reach for my basic Nars Blush every so often but I find that I’m generally alternating between a baked or cream formula.

Of course it wasn’t easy rounding it up but below you’ll find my favourite formulas on the market right now!

{Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Charmed}

Believe it or not it was Revlon that started my obsessed with this texture! A couple of years ago, the brand released this stunning round of cream blushes but (what I felt like was) our of nowhere they disappeared from Canada. I may have shed a tear when I heard the news but now they’re back and I’m a happy girl.

The best part about these Revlon blushes? The texture is so smooth it almost melts when it touches your fingertips or cheeks. It buffs in to the skin with ease and without streaks and I adore how long-lasting it is.

Oh Pinched! Such a cool, unusual colour. Yes, the shimmer looks intense but it really is a warm, gentle, subtle flush of peach. Perfect for any skintone.

{Make Up For Ever HD Blush in 415 Light Rust}

This new round of blushes by Make Up For Ever live up to their Pro name. The HD quality of this formulation mimics the look of a flushed second skin. The silky formula smooths in to a matte finish for a natural pop of colour.

{Make Up For Ever – 150 Wavy, Precision Blush Brush}

I’ve tried my loose blush brush with the cream blushes but find that they don’t collect the product as much as I would like to. The Make Up For Ever 150 Precision Blush Brush offers a tighter packed bristle to allow for a generous product pick up. Perfect when buffing the colour on to the apple of your cheeks!

I didn’t get round to photographing the centre of attention – Chanel’s Le Blush Creme in #62 but this formula is the most matte of the all. If you’re looking for a fresh, bold and powdery finish then this formula is unbeatable. Plus, it never hurts to pull out a black compact with the two c’s!

Dior spring nails

{Dior Vernise Spring 2014 in Bouquet, Porcelaine Bloom & Top Coat in Perle}

Dior nail polishes have taken their place in my favourite nail polish formula of all time, right next to YSL’s offerings. There’s nothing more satisfying (in the DIY mani world) than layering on a shiny, sweep of colour with the utmost of ease. Believe it or not, more of my favourite shades aren’t easy to work with but the flat blush, quicky drying, glossy formula that Dior has to offer is sublime. Best of all? These spring shades are to die for.

Gimme moah!

{Bloom}

This vibrant shade is spring/summer perfect. A fuchsia that would compliment any skin tone.

{Porcelaine}

The name on everyone’s lips and soon-to-be on everyone’s tips. It kinda reminds me of Chanel’s Riva (the perfect sky blue) and Dior are making this eggshell totally cool again. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This totally makes me think of a shade that Beyonce would wear.

dior bouqet nail polish

{Bouquet}

Oh hai pretty in pink coral shade that’s perfect for spring. While Bloom fit better for a summer pedi, Bouquet is the ultimate in daytime spring shades. I’ll take this beaut for a ride when I want a a feminine and fancy mani.

perle on bouqet

Introducing Dior’s new topcoat (reminiscent of YSL’s La Laque Couture) this shimmering Perle sets to a matte finish with a hint of sparkle (pretty cool of you ask me). I love the original effect it offers and it pretty much enhances most shades it’s partnered with.

Which of Dior’s new shades are you looking forward to most?

These beautylicious products were sent for consideration and were good enough to make the cut!

{Cherry blossom kisses with Japanese brand, Shu Uemura}

Despite the fact that summer is pretty much over, playing around with Shu Uemura’s lighter shades have me all giddy inside. Hey, if the shade fits, wear it whatever the season, right? I’m glad fall is coming so we can start pulling out the shades of burgundy and plum (shades that I only really got in to about two two years ago) — I’ll still be wearing shades of coral and pink on the days that I need a brightening boost. These Shu Uemura shades will do just that on and off your skin.

For this look I used Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer as a base with Givenchy’s Noir Couture Mascara. The rest, Shu Uemura colour pieces with the Lasting Gel Pencil Eye Liner in M Black and Gloss Unlimited in 20 C.

There’s something about matte lipsticks that’s had me hooked all summer. I often say it – gloss is for single girls or times when your lover has gone away. Who wants sticky kissed? Smooches aside I’m obsessed with the pigment and layer of hydrating, but matte colour these amazing lippies provide. This pink shade is so Barbie.

Maggie said it best it’s like Emilio Pucci and summer had a baby – and it was great. This little palette comes empty and can be filled with eyeshadows and blush refills. Complete with the Mercedes ‘click’ it’s a bit of a love affair when I pull this out of my purse on the subway.

{Blush Duos}

I feel like Shu Uemura  Blushes are the underdog of the make up world. These Duocolor Cheek Blushes are a dream in pigment and disperse over any blush brush beautifully. Offering a matte blush and a pearly highlighter here I have the shades Sweet Pink and Fresh Apricot. The shades swirled together offer an almost 3-D pop to the cheeks so you won’t necessarily have to contour in you’re in a rush.

These products have really opened my eyes, heart and wallet to a future with Shu – I wasn’t always the biggest fan of the make up after trying other lipsticks but these matte lipsticks and blushes have totally turned me.

Have you tried Shu Uemura make up before?
