Chocolate always has a place in my heart and I mean in any shape or form. As a drink, in baked goods, plain and simple bars and even on my face. Canadian beauty brand, Yula Organics offer a variety of masks to meet your skincare needs and the best part is you can mix it with your favourite oils and even water to apply.

{Chocolate face mask and avocado oil}

I’m mixing my powder with a pure avocado oil (softens the texture and is great for really dry skin like mine). Using olive oil is also super hydrating and beautifying for your skin, if you’re prone to oily skin then try mixing with The Body Shop’s tea tree oil.

{Nom Nom}

No really, doesn’t it look edible? And also hilarious! Your fam jam will love to see you in this one.

As you can probably tell from the company name, this all natural brand gives you a chocolate mask ($30) featuring only kaolin (a type of clay), cocoa powder and aloe barbadensis leaf (mm calming).

The act of mixing this mess was so much more fun than your average squeeze bottle, I loved getting stuck in this concoction.

It was probably the oil that did it but my skin felt instantly softer and more delicate. The clay offered a gentle extraction so my skin looked without a doubt clearer.

I wouldn’t normally opt for an all natural product (if you do you’ll love this) but I have to say it oh so refreshing to take a break from the harsh chemicals I usually play with…

{Collection of 12}

I know it’s not skincare sunday but I had to share the skincare routine that I’ve settled in to with you. Some of these beauties are repeat guests and others have recently made a comfortable spot in my routine. Either way, these products are so good I find I’m using them daily and my skin has honestly never been better.

daytime luxury skincare routine

{Daytime must-haves}

Philosophy Purity Cleanser – the creamy, staple cleanser that doesn’t strip my skin

Dr Renaud CC Eye Cream – featuring brightening pigments and de-puffing properties for instant results.

Pure and Simple Skin Drink – Simple, unscented and hydrating. I love this for days I feel like my skin is feeling sensitive.

Fresh Rose Floral Toner – Easy, one step spritz to tone and hydrate. Allowing my skin to soak up my serum with ease.

Shiseido Ibuki Refining Moisturizer Enriched – On days that are frigidly cold and I need a thicker barrier of moisture

Philosophy Hope in a Jar – My everyday moisturizer. It melts like butter and feels soooo lightweight. If it’s good enough for Oprah it’s good enough for me.

Dr Renaud UV Science, SPf 30 – Everyday is a sunscreen day. It’s the number one way to protect your skin from premature aging and developing large dark spots. This formula is buttery and whilst it feels thick at first it settles in perfectly after a few minutes.

The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Butter – It’s exactly that, a heavenly scented golden butter that melts as you work it in to your skin to remove your makeup.

{Nighttime must-haves}

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye – this night cream for the eyes works magic on my dehydrated peepers – whenever I use it they’re always a little less puffy than they usually are.

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Tonic – my favourite toner of all time. Still after almost a year! The silkiest prepping product I’ve used to date. My skin drinks it up!

Philosophy Time in a Bottle – My first anti-aging serum that I’ve been using religiously for the past few weeks and it really is buffing out the fine lines I noticed on my forehead before Christmas! The addiction of the concentrated vitamin C means I’m left with skin that’s naturally radiant.

Philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight – This tub of joy really is a miracle worker. I wake with plump, hydrated skin. Another anti-aging number that’s become a favourite in my routine. I haven’t been this attached to a night cream in a while!

{Speciality}

Philosophy Purity Wipes – the best make up removing, skin cleansing, toning wipes of all time, period.

Fresh Creme Ancienne Honey Mask – As a fairly recent graduate I can’t justify buying this product. Ever. It’s $150. But let me tell you that when I’m a boss lady I’ll be investing in this bad boy a couple of times a year. It’s like a luxury facial in a tub and feels ten times more blissful than any treatment I’ve had.

Shu Uemura Ultime 8 Cleansing Oil – Mika for Shu – no cleansing oil has come close. This product melts the make up off and nourishes every millimetre of it as it works. Bonus? Check out the gorgeous new bottle design for Spring 2014. A collaboration with Japanese photograher, Mika Ninagawa and available in April.

{Nerd Face}

Well this is awkward. My name is Rema and this is my face. I thought it fitting to do a ‘deer in headlights’ expression because well that’s how I feel without make up on. Now that I’ve gotten naked in front of you it’s only fair I tell you more.

garnier product

{Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer – $22.99 available in February}

Just before Christmas I attended the Garnier spring releases event and was oh so impressed with the line up. Saying that, the most exciting part of making my rounds though the new products was playing with this little number. So much so that I actually starting applying it on to my face in copious amounts despite the rotating crowd.

product before

{The product before rubbing it in}

It wasn’t the first time I’d seen colour changing technology in a make up base but it was the first time I’d seen one get so accurate and best of all, sooo glowing. Yes it’s an anti-aging product and I’m coming up to 25-years old but it’s this year I started to see the fine lines come in for the first time and I’d rather start embracing that journey ASAP.

{The product applied}

It happens to me every weekend. I’m scouring my make up drawers for a base that’s light enough to feel like moisturizer but not heavy enough to make my face feel congested. Even my BB creams weren’t cutting it – they all felt too heavy.

The thing I absolutely love the most about the this product is how lightweight it feels and how the product colour adjusts to make my skin look warmer as opposed to ashy, like most colour-adjusters have done in the past.

after makeup

{I’m human!}

Not sure If you can tell in the pictures but the Ultra Lift Transformer instantly lifts and brightens your skin tone but also offers long term anti-aging benefits to smooth out wrinkles and reduce dark spots (thanks to the vitamin E, Pro-retinol and firming peptides).

Slap on a bit of Vasanti’s Lip and Cheek pod in Candelight on my lips and cheeks and my easy weekend look is a breeze to apply. If you want the the chance to win one of FIFTY of these gems then enter my giveaway below!

Have any questions? Ask away below, I won’t be offended and would be happy to answer! Oh, and in these photos I was also wearing a CC eye cream that had some brightening particles in it.

ibuki

ibuki

{Shiseido Ibuki collection}

All you need is love…and a skincare regime that’ll perfects your appearance without giving you all the bells and whistles to add to the confusion.

I was recently approached by the brand to try out this crisp collection and without hesitation agreed. Shiseido was one of the first luxury brands I used when it come to skincare — mummy liked to spoil me a little in the beauty halls when she’d go to stock up on her Estee Lauder bits.

The moto for Shiseido’s new regime is “Ready for anything skin.” Sounds perfect to me. The line is aimed at skin that endures the stressors of city life. Repairing the skin after damage from dryness, pollution, stress and UV the results after one month have really been visible<3

cleanser

{Ibuki Purifying Cleanser – $35}

Let’s start with the cleanser. Recently added to my top five list of make-up removing magic makers. Alongside Philosophy’s Purity, Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oils and Biotherm’s face washes, this Purifying Cleanser is one of the best.

The foaming capabilities are impressive as it lathers in to silk-like soap that’ll leave you feeling and looking fresher and cleaner. The best part is the micro-granules that works to get nice and deep with the dirty.

softening

{Ibuki Skin Softening Concentrate – $30}

As you may all already know, Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Tonic is one of my all time favourite toners simply because it doesn’t feel harsh in the slightest. I feel the same way with the Softening Concentrate. It’s silky, it’s lightweight and it literally allows your skin to drink up the serum and moisturizer after use.

The only downfall I have with this particular product is that there’s not enough in the bottle for the price. I find myself wanting to use at least two pumps to feel the softening properties kick in

moisurizer

{Ibuki Refining Moisturizer Enriched – $52}

Available within the line are more fluid versions of moisturizers that are probably better suited for skin that isn’t too dry but for me — it’s all about the Refining Moisturizer Enriched. The regular Refining Moisturizer is still fantastic but for my skin to feel particularly smooth the Enriched version offers the perfect texture.

eyecream

{Ibuki Eye Correcting Cream – $45}

This Eye Correcting Cream has managed to push out all the other eye creams I’ve had in my rotation. It’s that good! The texture is so soothing, the light reflecting aspect is handy for those tougher mornings but, i’m still able to use it at night time. My only regret is that I don’t have a whole stash of this! These are the results that Shiseido claim:

In a 4-week consumer self-assessment study:
– 84% of participants felt puffiness improved
– 90% of participants felt fine lines improved
– 93% of participants felt dark circles improved

I can totally see why they’re so strong. Everything about this eye cream rocks.

Roundup

The thing about this line is that it looks simple but that’s what makes it stand out! The industry is so saturated with too much messaging and half of the stuff out there isn’t as good as it claims to be. Ibuki really feels and looks like it’s maintaining my skin’s safety in this groggy city. It’s a line that I feel offers the most soothing and smoothing results without all the harshness of alcohols and heavy scents. There’s a reason I’ve featured it in so many of my freelance pieces!
